WHY     ?

THIS IS YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S VW!   THIS IS NOT YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S VW!

THIS IS YOUR FATHER'S PC!                 THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHER'S PC!

Few people associate the direct linage between the original IBM PC and the current generation of Lenovo ThinkCentre PCs, or between the original IBM ThinkPad Laptop and the current generation of Lenovo ThinkPad Laptops, but link is absolute and direct - do not pass Go and do not collect $200. Well, at least for all the other manufacturers can't pass GO or collect $200, except for Lenovo. Back in 1981, I was working on IBM Series 1 computers in the Boston area, and one day they brought me a brand new computer. It was a microcomputer from IBM called the IBM PC, and the I'm pretty sure the serial number was 287! So, I for one know what I am talking about. Like the "new generation VW Bug" and the "original VW bug", the current ThinkCentre PCs are direct descendents from the original IBM PC, and the current ThinkPad Laptops, Notebooks, and Tablets are direct descendents from the legendary IBM ThinkPad. No kidding. No other manufacturer can make that claim, only Lenovo.

Aside from the long and deep heritage that Lenovo products have, there are many other things that set them ahead form the competition, first and foremost - quality. Several years ago, my brother began to work at Lenovo, and he asked me to try the product. I thought he was crazy. We were happy selling ACER, Compaq, HP, and other brands of computers, and after all, we all "knew" the Lenovo brand was more expensive. Well, I began to buy and resell Lenovo products, and I immediately noticed a huge drop in the requirement to "support" (fix) the equipment we sold. The quality, we truly superior, and, after all, not having to fix something means way more than money. You don't have to be without your machine, you don't have to figure out what is wrong in the first, and you don't end up with a "fixed" machine - all very good things. We also have come to know the Lenovo strategy of having a reasonable lifespan for each model, and Lenovo for supporting the product, long past the actual end of manufacturing. If you want another of something you bought, very likely you can get it for some time after you bought the original. If you want accessories, they are available for a good long time, and, if on the odd chance you do need support, it too is available for years after you bought a machine. Again, all good things.

Next, there is the durability issue. One of the reasons computers break is because they are not very rugged. A gentle drop, and a gentle bump can cause great harm to your computer made by another manufacturer, but not a ThinkPad. These machines are very rugged, and can take a lot of "use" before something comes up "broken". This multiplies your investment dollars, since "if it ain't broke", you don't have to fix or replace it. All ThinkPads have metal plates inside them to make them extra "stiff", so you don't have to worry about the internal damage that comes from "flexing" as you do with mostly all other manufacturers. The durability of the IBM ThinkPad is legendary, and so it is for the Lenovo ThinkPad. You can break them, but you have to be very determined in your efforts. They, like the Energizer Bunny, just keep working, and working, and working! This is a very good thing.

Lenovo T420s Rugged Enterprise Laptop

Last, I want to comment on here is the "enterprise" nature of these computers. Both the ThinkPad and ThinkCentre families of computers are meant to be the "gold standard" for large enterprises. So, that means that these computers come in all sizes and configurations within the families. You can get the standard "tower" ThinkCentre, which gives you power and expansion. You can get the "small form factor" ThinkCentre, which gives you all that power, but is a smaller package. Then, there is my favorite, and our best seller, the 'ultra small form factor" ThinkCentre, which gives you all that power and reliability is a truly tiny package - an amazing computer. The same is true for the ThinkPad family of computers. You can get the ThinkPad X120e, which gives you a powerful and durable computer in an 11.6" screen size - very small. Then there are the X220 and X220s machines, with a 12.1" screen, incredible durability, super light, extra thin, and amazing battery life as well. The X1 is new and gives you a 13" screen, and is a powerful, lightweight, and durable computing package. My favorite, the T420s, with a 14" screen size, is a super durable, crazy powerful, amazingly lightweight laptop, with a battery life that never ceases to amaze me, and the two cousins, the T420 and the T520 round out the X and T Series ThinkPad family with all the same features that make us love our ThinkPad. There are also other ThinkPad lines within the family, like Edge, E Series, SL Series and the like, giving you many options and many "price points", making it always possible to "afford" a ThinkPad computer. Last, there is the Lenovo ThinkPad Enterprise Tablet, powerful, rugged, fast, and very intuitive in use. The new standard of all Android based Tablet Computers. So, if you need a computer, don't be fooled by others, Lenovo ThinkCentre and ThinkPad computers are the only brand and families that can be traced back directly to the legendary IBM PC and IBM ThinkPad. My question is simple, why would you willingly pay more for less?
